Letters to Bukharin”]
N.I.:
Although
from yesterday’s meeting of the Politburo it has become absolutely
clear to me that the Politburo has firmly decided on a line of
further pressure tactics — with all the consequences for the party
that flow from that line — still, I do not want to refrain from one
more attempt at clarification, especially since you yourself
suggested to me that we talk over the situation that has arisen.
Today I will wait for your call all day — until 7 p.m. After 7:00 I
have a meeting of the Central Concessions Committee.
